Kendrick Family Update: August
Hello All,
Wow! It has been almost a whole month since I have posted anything in our blog. Life has been busy this month and I have not been able to take much time for myself to blog anything. Let's see...what is new with the Kendrick Family.
Our son, Keonte, turned 12 this past week and we are blessed beyond measure that he is growing into such a responsible and kind young man. We pray we continue to raise him up to be great. Cheyanne is getting tall! She is almost as tall as her brother already and only 8! They are both looking forward to the first day of school next week and seeing their school friends again.
Kevin is doing good. Looking into continuing his education and working hard. I finished the summer semester and am taking a necessary break over the fall from school.
These last few months have been challenging to say the least. We are still fighting the fight and hoping to break through the fog soon.
This past weekend I received news that a young man I went to school with (several grades younger) passed away in a car accident. This situation hit close to home, not only because we went to a small school and everyone there was like family at some point in our lives, but because it mirrors the way my nephew passed several years ago. I was surprised the depth of mourning this has brought. I feel as if I am reliving the past and dealing with the sadness of a family we know having a similar loss at the same time.
If there is anything I can say to anyone that has lost someone dear to them. The pain may not go away but it will fade to a point where life goes on. Dwell on the good and not the bad. The memories that make you smile are the ones that matter. Do not take your loved ones for granted. We never know when we will be able to see, talk, or hug/kiss them again. If you have the opportunity to do so tell them you love them, hug them, compliment them, make your time with them count.
People ask me why I smile so much and why things do not seem to bother me. Do not get me wrong I am an emotional being but I do not let the petty things bother me too much. I may get annoyed, peeved, and frustrated but I smile through it because I know eventually it will not matter. When I start to get upset, I think to myself will this matter a year from now? A month? Even a week? If the answer is no, I let it go!
Life is too precious and too short to waste it on things that do not matter.
Love to you all and have a great week!
Sharon

Hey Sharon! I didn't know you had a blog! I can't wait to go back and read all your posts. I miss our walks. Tell the kiddos hi from all of us.
